4 Simple Tips To Become The Best Version Of Yourself

The Serenity Prayer admonishes us to accept the things we cannot change, to change the things we can, and to have the wisdom to know the difference. You have the power to change more than you realize.  If you want to make the world a better place, you don’t have to start on a global scale. Think locally. Become the best version of yourself.

An Aspirational Image:

Have you ever been told to dress for the job you want to have? You should embrace that idea in every aspect of your life. Get rid of things that you do not use. A lot of people hold on to clothes that remind them of happier times, like when they were younger or thinner. This can make us feel like the best years of our lives are over. Give yourself permission to let go of the past and embrace the future, then treat yourself to a few new items to spruce up your wardrobe and make you feel more like the person you want to be.

Change Starts Now:

Model the kind of person you hope to become. Don’t wait for your life to improve; make it happen. Do you want to have more financial security? Start by writing down what you spend. You may be surprised by how much money you actually have coming in once you see where it all goes. Small things add up quickly; your daily drive-through lunch or your morning cappuccino could be costing you a house payment each month. Vices like cigarettes, drugs, and alcohol are even more destructive, because as they sap our bank accounts, they are also damaging our health.  Examine the treats and bribes you’re offering yourself, and eliminate those that are doing you more harm than good.

Be Good To Yourself:

Start practicing healthy habits of self-care and prioritizing your own life. You want to be your best physically and mentally, so it’s essential to look after your health. Make a point of eating well and getting plenty of sleep and regular exercise. Joining a gym or enrolling in an exercise class will help you to look and feel better. Consider it an investment you’re making in yourself, a commitment to becoming the best person you can be. Studies show that program of regular exercise will help you to reduce stress, raise your spirits, and will even lengthen your lifespan. For survivors of substance abuse problems, exercise and eating well can help to prevent relapse and provide a focus in recovery. Exercise raises the level of “feel-good” chemicals in the body such as dopamine and serotonin, and can even produce the sensation of “runner’s high.”  Studies have shown that drug abuse lowers dopamine levels over time, but that regular physical activity can help restore them.

Learn To Relax:

Wellness tourism and spa packages are a rising trend in the hospitality industry.  The spa experience is good for your body and your mind, helping to relieve stress and recoup your energy. But you don’t have to leave home to get the benefits of personal pampering. Schedule a little “me” time: put on some relaxing music, light some candles, and slip into a tub of bubbles with a good book. You could also take up meditation or journalling. Join a yoga class or take up a new hobby. Take time to reward yourself by doing something just for you.

You have set your feet on the path to personal growth and fulfillment by cultivating your body and mind. Your future is an exciting destination with limitless potential. Embrace the healing power of change and never look back. You’re going to love the new you.
